Students entering in Fall 2008 will be members of the second School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) class and will become part of a rich history of learning, innovation, service, and community.
The Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences builds on a well-established tradition of offering professional and pre-professional curricula.
- Our courses cover the biological spectrum, from organisms to ecosystems
- All programs are based on a foundation in the physical and biological sciences, but we also emphasize the social and human dimensions of scientific practice in majors such as environmental and business economics or environmental policy, institutions, and behavior
- Students often pursue groundbreaking research projects, internships, and service learning opportunities--all of which are hallmarks of an education at one of the top public research universities in the nation
- Graduates go on to pursue graduate and professional programs at some of the nation's most prestigious universities, and they become leaders their fields
At SEBS, we foster an environment that encourages leadership and values individuals. Our integrated teaching, research, and outreach programs offer students a complete and well-rounded education both inside and outside the classroom. A growing emphasis in the coming years will be on internationalizing our curricula and providing greater opportunities for study/work abroad. Our goal is to prepare students for employment and citizenship in an increasingly interrelated and interdependent global community. And with a location in the middle of it all--just one hour from New York, 90 minutes from Philadelphia, and one hour from the Jersey shore--our students have the best of all worlds.
